Ridgemont’s star sire Rafeef had another eye catching pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday.
The G1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice looks to have come up with a smart filly in the form of Egolee.
That two-year-old filly got off the mark at the second time of asking when she ran out a comfortable winner of Wednesday’s Hollywoodbets Scottsville Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Filies) (1200m).
Under Richard Fourie, the Tony Rivalland trained Egolee stayed on powerfully in the closing stages to score by nearly three-parts of a length.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, the promising filly had been beaten under half a length when second on debut and Egolee looks to have a bright future ahead of her.
Owned by Mary Liley, Egolee is out of the Silvano mare Epona. She was a R600 000 buy from the 2025 National Yearling Sale.
Rafeef is also the sire of high-class three-year-old Esteemed, who overcame a long layoff to win the Lucky Fish Aviator Progress Plate (1200m) on Wednesday.
Ridden by Richard Fourie, the Mike and Mathew De Kock trained colt bolted up to win as he liked by more than five and a quarter lengths.
Runner up in the 2025 G2 TAB SA Nursery, Esteemed has won two of three starts for owners Ridgemont and Devin Heffer.
The Ridgemont Highlands bred colt is out of the High Chaparral mare Honour Roll.
