Drakenstein Stud’s bang in-form sire What A Winter is enjoying another fine season in 2018-2019, and the triple Equus Champion had yet another mid-week double when two of his runners scored at Greyville on Wednesday.

What A Winter, currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs, had his second juvenile winner for the 2018-2019 season (from two runners) when Enterthedebutante justified favouritism over 800m yesterday.
Trained by Kum Naidoo, the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud bred filly Enterthedebutante stayed on strongly to score a 0.6 of a length win under Anton Marcus, with the filly having finished second at her only other race.
Her sire What A Winter had earlier made waves when his daughter Chilly Winter won the very first juvenile race of the 2018-2019 South African racing season.
The four time G1 winning stallion (and South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2016-2017) had another winner on Wednesday when his 3yo daughter Ambra shed her maiden over 1000m for trainer Dennis Drier and jockey Sean Veale.
Dispatched a 5-4 tote favourite, the Piemonte Stud bred filly duly obliged with a half length win, with Ambra having been placed at her only two previous starts.
What A Winter looks on course for more success this coming weekend with his daughter Clouds Unfold a leading contender for Saturday’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas and son Sacred Arrow a runner in the same day’s G1 Cape Guineas.

What A Winter’s high class son Dutch Philip will also be in action on Saturday with that former G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery winner a runner in Saturday’s Listed Southeaster Sprint at Kenilworth (What A Winter daughter Celestial Storm is another runner in the Southeaster).
The champion has 12 lots on offer at the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
