South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight had a trio of winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Gimmethegreenlight sired runners won races two, six and eight on Wednesday to provide their sire with a memorable treble.
His first success came when Gimmethegreenlight gelding Scottish Kiss romped home in Wednesday’s Cape Turf Club Syndicate Open Maiden over 1200 metres.
The Justin Snaith trained three-year-old, who Sean Veale rode, put daylight between himself and his rivals when winning by seven and a half lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Scottish Kiss, making just his fourth start on Wednesday, had finished fourth in two of his only three other starts.
Scottish Kiss is out of the Jet Master mare Kissimmee, and is thus bred on the same cross as graded stakes winners Green Plains, La Bella Mia and Universal.
Gimmethegreenlight looks to have a really smart sort to his name in the form of The Real Prince. That lightly raced four-year-old made it three wins from five starts when he won Wednesday’s Celebrating Centurion Member Kuyan Kotzen’s Birthday Class 2 (1400m).
A full-brother to dual G1 winner Gimme A Prince and this season’s G3 Baker Mc Veigh Diana Stakes winner Gimmie’s Countess, Craig Zackey unleashed the Real Prince down the inside of the course and they powered home to win impressively by a length and three quarters.
Bred and owned by Khaya Stables, the Dean Kannemeyer trained The Real Prince, like his full-brother Gimme A Prince, holds an entry in the G2 Cape Merchants.
Gimmethegreenlight’s third winner on Wednesday was his daughter Lickety Split, who won the CRS Summer Sale 23 January 2025 Class 4 (1800m) in good style.
The Justin Snaith trained filly hit the front close home and stayed on gamely to win by a length.
Like The Real Prince, Lickety Split is out of a daughter of Trippi.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, the consistent Lickety Split has won three of her last four starts.
Multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight is set to be represented by a pair of runners in Saturday’s G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas.
