Maine Chance Farms’ very much inform stallion Querari had a good weekend this past week when the son of Oasis Dream came up with four winners.
Querari had a trio of winners on Saturday and his son Qunetra provided his sire with more success when he won at Borrowdale Park on Saturday while Querari gelding Queue Wing went close to providing his sire with more success when finishing a close up third in the umThombothi Stakes on Sunday.
The Maine Chance resident struck at Turffontein on Saturday afternoon when his classy son I Am Giant powered home to win the seventh race on the card.
Under Kabelo Matsunyane, the Brett Crawford-trained gelding made it win number four from just nine starts when running out a one-and-a-quarter length winner of Saturday’s Play Soccer 6, 10 and 13 Middle Stakes (1160m).
A winner of three of his last five starts, I Am Giant had also finished third earlier this season, to subsequent G1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship winner Dyce, in the Listed Golden Loom Handicap.

Four-year-old filly Porque Te Vas won the eighth and final race at Kenilworth for Mike Stewart and Richard Fourie. The Querari filly claimed her fifth career victory when she powered home to land the Hollywoodbets Bright Future Cape B Stakes (F & M) (1100m) by a length and a half.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Porque Te Vas is out of the Trippi mare Pritti.
His Oldlands Stud-bred son Qunetra, who has a Horizon half-brother on offer at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale, picked up the fifth win of his career when he romped home to a five-length success at Borrowdale Park on Sunday.
Out of the Captain Al mare Windspiel, Qunetra is bred on the same Querari/Captain Al cross as graded stakes winners Head Honcho, Kampala Campari and Questioning.
Querari, twice South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs, has had a great season in 2023-2024 with his flagbearers including graded stakes winners Master Redoute and Questioning.
He has a single lot on offer at the 2024 Cape Yearling Sale -a filly (Lot 141), closely inbred to Oasis Dream, whose granddam is a stakes placed half-sister to G1 Dubai Duty Free winner Al Shemali.
