Weekend treble for Querari

14th Aug 2017

Maine Chance Farms’ successful young sire Querari enjoyed a good weekend this week, when the champion son of Oasis Dream was represented by a treble of winners in South Africa.

Querari

Querari’s Listed Epol Dahlia Plate winning daughter Joking was the first to score for her sire, with the newly turned three-year-old scoring an emphatic 1.75 length win over 1000m at Fairview on Friday.
The uber consistent Joking, bred by Maine Chance Farms, has now won two of her last three outings and has won or placed in six of her seven starts to date.

Talented Spring Wonder, now in the care of trainer Paul Peter, gave her sire a quick double when downing G1 filly Myfunnyvalentine by a long neck over 1160m at Turffontein on Saturday. The mare, well ridden by jockey Weichong Marwing, has now won two in a row, and four in total.
Another bred by Maine Chance Farms, Spring Wonder, who has earned more than R350 000 in stakes, had previously filled the runner up berth in the Listed Bauhinia Handicap in 2016.

Last of the Querari winners came when the Maine Chance Farms bred Pomona broke her maiden (and did her future stud claims no harm either) over 1600m at Scottsville on Sunday, to provide Querari with a third and final winner for the weekend.
Pomona, whose half-brother by Silvano sells as lot 98 at this week’s National Two Year Old Sale, is yet to finish out of the money in seven outings.

Quasillo

Querari, whose daughters Mind Your Business, Spring Breeze and Pearl Glow finished second, fourth and fifth respectively in Sunday’s BSA August Million Fillies, enjoyed a tremendous season in 2016-2017 when represented by such high-class performers as Maxmizer, Wonderwall, Made In Hollywood and Monks Hood.

The G1 winning half-brother to new Klipdrif sire Quasillo has six lots on offer at this week’s National Two Year Old Sale.
