What A Winter filly makes it three out of three

1st Jan 2023

Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion What A Winter looks to have yet another smart sort on his hands in the form of promising three-year-old filly Winter Greeting.

The latter made it three wins from three starts when running out a convincing winner at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Winter Greeting was making her first start at Kenilworth on Saturday, with the filly having captured her two previous starts at the Vaal in impressive style.

Under Calvin Habib, the Sean Tarry trained filly kept finding more in the closing stages of Saturday’s Bet With Tab FM 90 Handicap (1400m) to win gamely by half a length.

The filly is now a likely contender for the Gold Rush.

Bred by Syrilla Stud, Winter Greeting is out of the Kahal mare Eastern Greeting.

Winter Greeting is not the only unbeaten rising star representing What A Winter this season, with the stallion’s son Love In Winter currently unbeaten in four starts.

South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2020-2021, What A Winter is currently third on the South African General Sires List, with his runners having already banked more than R9.823 million in 2022-2023.
