Wilgerbosdrift’s beautifully bred young Redoute’s Choice horse Buffalo Bill Cody gained a further boost to his stellar pedigree page when his relative Improbable landed Saturday’s G1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga.

A four-year-old colt by City Zip, Improbable provided his trainer Bob Baffert with a second straight Whitney Stakes win when he landed Saturday’s $750 000 feature race with Baffert victorious in last year’s race with McKinzie.
Improbable, who had won the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup on his previous appearance, settled into second before taking command over Mr. Buff just past the three-quarter pole near the rail coming out of the final turn.
Under jockey Irad Ortiz, Improbable stayed on to land the Whitney by two lengths.
In the process, he gained an automatic berth to November 7th’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Out of the A.P. Indy mare Rare Event, Improbable (winner of the G1 Los Alamitos Futurity at two) took his tally of wins to six and his earnings to $1 528 620 with his Whitney success.
His fifth dam is the influential mare Luiana -whose G1 Spinaway Stakes winning daughter Prayersn Promises ranks as the third dam of Buffalo Bill Cody.
