Maine Chance Farms’ reigning champion sire Silvano had a pair of interesting winners on Wednesday afternoon.
Silvano had a French winner at Longchamp, while his son Silva’s Bullet picked up his second career victory at Greyville’s mid-week meeting. A winner now of two of his three outings, Silva’s Bullet had previously finished third in the BSA August Million last August when dispatched the tote favourite
Backed down to 13-10 favouritism for Wednesday’s race, Silva’s Bullet showed his class in the MR80 handicap with a fluent two length victory and he looks a smart three-year-old with a bright future ahead of him.
Bred by Willem Engelbrecht Jr, Silva’s Bullet was the top lot sold off the 2016 National Two Year Old Sale, when knocked down for R2 1000 000.
Out of the mare Boston Tea Party, Silva’s Bullet is bred on the same Silvano/Jallad cross as former G1 J&B Met winner Martial Eagle.
Silvano was also responsible for the durable eight-year-old Montesquieu, who romped to a three length win over 2400m at Longchamp on Wednesday.
A dual Champion Sire in South Africa, Silvano will be represented by three yearlings at this week’s April Yearling Sale, and a further 25 yearlings at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. His Equus Champion Vercingetorix will be represented by 14 first crop yearlings at the April Sale, and a further 15 lots at the National Sale.
