Two-year-old Coldhardstare was backed down to favouritism for Thursday’s TAB 4Racing App Maiden Plate (F&M) (1160m) and duly lived up to expectations.
Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Michael and Adam Azzie trained filly overcame greeness to get up and win impressively by a length and three-quarters.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Coldhardstare is out of the Trippi mare Trip Poker.
She is but one of several exciting two-year-olds representing What A Winter this season with others including G2 Heineken SA Nursery winner Miss Cool, the unbeaten Hitthemhardsunshine, G3 Strelitzia Stakes second Sabatini and Ruffian Stakes runner-up Magic Tycoon.
