Irish champion Pathfork, who spent the 2018 season at Sandown Stud, has been enjoying another good season and the former G1 National Stakes winner yet again made headlines at Scottsville on Wednesday when his 2yo son Pearl Of Asia made a winning debut.

Just beaten when second in a barrier trial previously, the Riverton Stud bred Pearl Of Asia dug down deep to make a winning racecourse debut when landing a maiden juvenile plate over 1200m by a head at the mid-week meeting.

The Robbie/Shannon Hill trained colt was ridden to victory in Wednesday’s race by Gareth Wright.

Out of the Tiger Ridge mare Asiatic Pearl, Pearl Of Asia was a bargain R35 000 buy from the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.

He is the third juvenile winner for Irish Champion 2YO Pathfork this season thus far, with Pathfork’s other two-year-old winners including Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Miss Honey.
