Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young sire, and former Equus Champion, Vercingetorix has made an excellent start to his stud career, and the son of Silvano looks to have yet another bright prospect to his name in the form of unbeaten two-year-old filly Naarah.

The latter made it two wins from two starts when making all to land a juvenile plate over 1000m at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.
Trained by Dorrie Sham, the Maine Chance Farms bred Naarah showed her class when striding home, under former champion jockey S’Manga Khumalo, to win by four lengths.

Naarah, who is out of the Elusive Quality mare Elusive Vintage, had previously won her only other start, when scoring by half a length over 800m at Turffontein.

The filly is the first 2yo winner for Vercingetorix, with the latter having had just two juvenile starters at the time of writing.

South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire and Leading Sire of 3YOs last season, the G1 Jebel Hatta winning Vercingetorix has three lots on the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale, and a further eight lots on offer at the 2021 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
