Juvenile double for Gimmethegreenlight

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight has an exciting crop of two-year-olds representing him this season, and the star son of More Than Ready came up with two further juvenile winners at Kenilworth on Wednesday afternoon.

His gelded son Port Louis justified tote favouritism status when he got up to win Wednesday’s second race, the Tabonline.co.za Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m). Under an inform Louis Mxothwa, the Brett Crawford trained two-year-old powered home to score convincingly by a long neck.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Port Louis had been third in the BSA Cape Yearling Sale Cup last time out.

Out of the Qui Danzig mare Winning Eyes, Port Louis was a R260 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

Gimmethegreenlight’s second two-year-old to win on Wednesday was Distinction, who made much of the running to win the #ThisIsRacing Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m) in impressive style.
A first winner in her silks for owner-breeder Pippa Mickleburgh, Distinction scored by a cosy half a length, with the filly making her third racecourse appearance.

Distinction is out of the Var mare Varsity Queen, and she is the eighth two-year-old winner for Gimmethegreenlight this season.
South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2021-2022, Gimmethegreenlight has had another outstanding season this year and has already been responsible for eight stakes winners this season.
