Ridgemont’s five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs enjoyed a fine season in 2024-2025, and the Tagula son’s good form has continued into the new season.
Canford Cliffs had a pair of winners at the Vaal on Tuesday with the Ridgemont sire going close to having a treble on the day.
Canford Cliffs’ first success on Tuesday came when his Joe Soma trained daughter Lost For Words won the #Youcanbetonus!Maiden Plate (F&M) (1200m).
Under Chase Maujean, the lightly raced filly powered home down the inside of the track to post a more than three and a quarter length win.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Lost For Words, who was making just her third start on Tuesday, races for Messrs M B Bloemstein, D Chinsammy, Kenny Govender, E Naicker, A Reynolds & TKP Racing.
Lost For Words is out of the Spectrum mare Allegoria which makes her a full-sister to the useful King Of Spin.
Canford Cliffs is also the sire of Mamlambo, who won the eighth and final race on Tuesday.
Trained by Heather Adamson, the three-year-old powered away to land the Next Vaal Racemeeting Thursday 2 October FM 78 Handicap (1400m) by a length and a half.
The Ridgemont Highlands bred Mamlambo has won two of just three starts and she looks well above average.
Out of the Jackson mare Water Spirit, Mamlambo races for Hollywood Racing.
Her five time G1 winning sire is also responsible for unbeaten three-year-old Direct Hit, who recently caught the eye when she romped home to a facile win at Fairview.
