Aloe Handicap glory for Visionaire

10th Jan 2024

Gelykfontein Stud’s proven stallion Visionaire made his mark at Fairview on Tuesday when his daughter Idita won the Aloe Handicap over 1300 metres. The Aloe Handicap was a great race for Visionaire, with another daughter of the stallion, Enchanted Sky, finishing third.
Trained by Gavin Smith, three-year-old Idita, backed into 15/2 after opening at 10-1, justified pre-race betting support when romping home to claim Tuesday’s race in fine style.
Under Louis Mxothwa, Idita raced up with the pace in Tuesday’s race, before powering away to score as she liked by two and three quarter lengths.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Idita is out of the Western Winter mare Iditarod, making her a full-sister to Listed Racing Association Stakes winner Norton Sound.
Idita has now won twice, with the filly having finished second in last season’s Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes.
Her G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winning sire Visionaire is also broodmare sire of dual G1 winner See It Again, who finished second in Saturday’s G1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate.
