When the Highlands Farms Stud bred African Night Sky saluted in the G3 Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont Winter Guineas on Saturday he became the third individual Guineas winner this season for his Highlands Farms Stud based sire Dynasty.

Dynasty, whose previous Guineas winners include Act Of War, Alexis, and champion Beach Beauty, has also been represented by the Guineas winning fillies Just Sensual (G1 Betting World Cape Fillies Guineas) and Smiling Blue Eyes (G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas) this season alone.

Remarkably, this already formidable list of Guineas winners could yet grow further shortly –with Dynasty’s classy son Horizon appearing a leading contender for next Sunday’s G2 Daisy Guineas.

African Night Sky, now a winner of three of just six outings, was an R850 000 buy from the 2015 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

He is bred on the same Dynasty/Cozzene cross as triple G1 winning sire Jackson, whose full brother, Grab The Light, recently fetched R3.8 million to top the 2017 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale.

Former Horse Of The Year Dynasty has been represented by no fewer than eight stakes winners this season, with his tally including G1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes winning filly Bela-Bela and G3 Protea Stakes winner Barrack Street –a leading contender for next Saturday’s G1 SA Nursery on Champions Day.

Dynasty, whose yearlings have fetched up to R5.75 million this year, has 20 lots on offer at this week’s National Yearling Sale in Germiston. His draft includes a half-brother to facile recent debut winner Silver Thursday (Lot 161), a filly out of 14 time stakes winner Stormy Appeal (Lot 198), a three-parts brother to Fillies Mile winner Negroamaro (Lot230) and a half-sister to G1 Champions Cup winner Ivory Trail (Lot 448).

Unfortunately, the full-sister to African Night Sky has been withdrawn from the 2017 National Sale.
