Highlands Stud’s well performed new stallion Canford Cliffs has a top class performer on his hands in the form of the Australian Cliff’s Edge.
The latter made it win number six when landing Friday’s G2 Hacer Alister Clark Stakes over 2000m at Moonee Valley.
Cliff’s Edge, whose previous wins included both the G3 Caulfield Classic and G3 Manfred Stakes, showed plenty of heart in the Alister Clark, making much of the running under jockey Jamie Mott to score a one and a quarter length win over Carbine Club Stakes winner Levendi.
Mott described his mount as a “high-class galloper” after the pair’s impressive G2 victory.
At tilt at either the G1 Rosehill Guineas or G1 Australian Derby could be on the cards for Cliff’s Edge.
The colt, produced by the Snaadee mare Simulation, is a son of former Irish 2000 Guineas winner Canford Cliffs, due to stand his first South African season at Highlands Stud this year.
Other notable runners sired by champion and five time G1 winner Canford Cliffs include group winners Most Beautiful, Painted Cliffs, Princess Asta, Al Jazi and Investec Oaks third Harlequeen.
Also sire of recent G3 Three Troikas Stakes winner Fish River, Canford Cliffs will be available for viewing at the Highlands Stud Stallion Day set to take place at the farm on May 25th.
