Trained by Mathew and Mike De Kock, Limerick Lace powered home to win the second race on Saturday.
Under Callan Murray, the two-year-old stormed away to win the Play Soccer 6,10, and 13 Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1160m) by two and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Limerick Lace was a R280 000 buy from the 2024 Cape Yearling Sale.
Limerick Lace, who is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Limerick Ridge, is bred on the same Danon Platina/Tiger Ridge cross as high-class filly White Pearl.
Saturday’s winner is the sixth two-year-old winner this season for Danon Platina, Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014.
Other promising two-year-olds representing Danon PLatina this season are Whispering Death, G3 Winter Nursery runner up Absolutely Yes, and Tina Lovelace. The latter ran third in the G3 Pretty Polly Stakes.
Danon Platina’s son Grey Jet holds an entry for the G1 Daily News 2000, while his daughters Miss Platina and Regeneration both hold entries for the same day’s G2 Tote Woolavington 2000.
