A daughter of Cartier Champion and five time G1 winner Duke Of Marmalade proved the star turn on the first day of the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale on Thursday.
Consigned by Rathmor Stud, the filly was catalogued as lot 25 and knocked down to Gavin Van Zyl’s Team G Racing for R425 000.
Going by the name of C’est Serra, the filly is out of the three time winning Western Winter mare Misty River, whose winning offspring include G3 Cup Trial winner One Cool Dude.
C’est Serra shares her sire with game recent G1 Gold Cup winner Big Orange, currently one of the most popular racehorses in Britain.
She was one of just two yearlings on the sale by champion Duke Of Marmalade, who is currently above such sires as Cape Cross, War Front and Street Cry on the GB General Sires List.
Duke Of Marmalade has 34 stakes winners to his credit, including the above mentioned Big Orange, whose top runners this year include the above mentioned £1 000 000 plus earner Big Orange and G3 Prix de Barbeville winner Marmelo.
