Outstanding sire Dynasty enjoyed another cracking weekend this just past. Not only did his progeny star in the sales ring and on the track, but his son Dynastic Rule became the first son of Dynasty to be represented by a winner when represented by his first winner at Greyville on Sunday.
Dynasty’s son Grab The Light, a brother to triple G1 winning sire Jackson, topped the recent Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale when fetching R3.8 million for Form Bloodstock.
The Highlands Farm Stud consigned colt was one of two yearlings by Dynasty at the sale to fetch R1 000 000, with a Dynasty filly out of Quest For Gold being knocked down to Rainbow Beach Trading for R1 000 000.
Dynasty, also responsible for a R5.75 million colt at the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, was the second leading sire by aggregate at the 2017 Select Sale, with his eight yearlings grossing R6.85 million and averaging an impressive R856 250!
Another high priced son of Dynasty, Horizon (a R5.2 million purchase from the 2015 Cape Premier Yearling Sale) stamped himself as a horse to follow when lifting a competitive looking allowance plate over 1400m at Greyville on Sunday. Winner two starts back of the G3 Cartier Politician Stakes, the Maine Chance Farms bred colt dug down deep to get the better of G1 Investec Cape Derby runner up Zodiac Ruler in a close finish –and Horizon looks destined for bigger things than this!
Now a winner of three of just seven outings, the regally bred Horizon (his dam is a sister to champion sire Silvano) is certainly a colt who sports a stallion’s pedigree.
He is two sons of Dynasty who have been entered for the G2 Daisy Guineas on the 7th of May (Wild Wicket being the other).
Another well bred son of Dynasty, Dynastic Rule, made headlines when becoming the first son of Dynasty to sire a winner. His son, King’s Cup romped home to break his maiden by three lengths over a mile.
Dynasty, also broodmare sire of this year’s R6 million colt Charles, has 20 yearlings on offer at next week’s National Yearling Sale. They include a half-sister to G3 winner Punk Rocker (Lot 137), a half-brother to dazzling debut winner Silver Thursday (Lot 161), a ¾ brother to G3 winner Negroamaro (Lot 230), and a half-sister to G1 Champions Cup winner Ivory Trail and debut winner Virtue (Lot 448).
