Ascot Stud’s well performed Galileo horse Global View came up with his eighth first crop winner when his two-year-old son Bold Horizon made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Bold Horizon defied his 40-1 starting price by prevailing in a thrilling three horse finish to claim the www.tabold.co.za Maiden Juvenile Plate (1100m) by a short neck, despite racing very green.

The gelded son of Global View is trained by Louis Goosen and Bold Horizon was ridden on Wednesday by Billy Jacobson.

Out of the Crimson Waves mare La Poppet, Bold Horizon was a R200 000 buy from last year’s National Sale.

His G2 American Turf/G3 Generous Stakes winning sire Global View has made a tremendous start with his first two-year-olds this season also including Dahlia Plate/ East Cape Nursery winner Global Drummer, East Cape Nursery second Fireview and East Cape Fillies Nursery/Lady’s Slipper Stakes runner up Storyland.

Global View shares his outstanding sire Galileo with 86 G1 winners including such top sires as Frankel, New Approach and Teofilo, as well as this year’s Investec Derby/Oaks winners Serpentine and Love.
