Maine Chance Farms’ prominent sire Querari struck twice at Fairview on Friday.
Not only did Querari’s promising son Cruise Control land Friday’s feature race at Fairview, his well bred son Suryavarman struck for his sire when victorious in the first race on the card.
The record breaking Cruise Control made it four wins from just six starts when he won the Speedsters Stakes (1000m) in smart style on Friday.
Bred by Boland Stud, the Querari sired three-year-old put his older rivals to the sword in Friday’s sprint when Cruise Control romped home to score by three and a half lengths.
Trained by Gavin Smith, Cruise Control was booted home by JP Van Der Merwe.
Cruise Control, who is out of the Sail From Seattle mare Eurythmics, was a R200 000 purchase from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
A full-brother to G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon, the gelded Suryavarman got off the mark when he broke his maiden on Friday.
The Sharon Kotzen trained three-year-old powered home to break his maiden by a length and three quarters when landing the Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Maiden Plate (1400m) under Louis Mxothwa.
Bred by Ben Botha, Suryavarman had finished fourth on debut before filling the runner up berth on his only subsequent appearance.
The gelding was a R260 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
