Klawervlei Stud’s July winning sire Pomodoro has made a flying start to the 2022-2023 racing season and the inform stallion struck again when his son Rule By Force made an impressive winning debut at Turffontein on Saturday.
Under Craig Zackey, the Joe Soma trained Rule By Force stormed away in the closing stages of Saturday’s #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1200m) to score a cosy one length win on debut.
The winning jockey was quick to praise his mount after the Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud bred Rule By Force’s smart win on Saturday, saying he gave him a very nice feel and that was more to come from the son of Pomodoro.
The Pomodoro colt was a R160 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
His sire had enjoyed success earlier in the week, with the Pomodoro gelding Drop Of Time catching the eye when he romped home to break his maiden by a length and three-quarters on Thursday.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro had another successful season in 2021-2022 where his flagbearers included such graded stakes winners as Black Thorn and Epsom Girl.
