Hong Kong success for Vercingetorix

10th Nov 2022

Currently atop of the South African general sires list, Vercingetorix struck further away from home when his Klawervlei Stud bred son Super Commander won in Hong Kong on Wednesday.
Under Luke Ferraris, the gelding kept finding more in the closing stages to lift the spoils in Wednesday’s Tung Wah Group Of Hospitals Challenge Cup (five furlongs) at Happy Valley.
Super Commander, who raced as Fearless Warrior in South Africa, has now won three times in Hong Kong, where the gelding has a further five placings to his credit.
He also won twice, from four starts, in South Africa where Fearless Warrior also finished second in the 2019 G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery.

Super Commander is out of the Captain Al mare War Path, and is thus bred on the same Vercingetorix/Captain Al cross as G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Vernichey.

Runner up, to his sire Silvano, on last season’s General Sires List, Vercingetorix enjoyed another good spell over the past weekend, where he was represented by a pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth in the form of Quandary and Running Rifles respectively.
The former Equus Champion, and G1 Jebel Hatta winner, has 12 lots on offer at this month’s November Two Year Old Sale.
