Klawervlei Stud’s G1 winning sire, and proven G1 sire, Seventh Rock had a smart looking two-year-old winner on Saturday.
Three Stars, a two-year-old daughter of Klawervlei’s proven G1 sire Seventh Rock, produced a smart turn of foot to score a winning debut over 1000 metres.
Steered to victory by former champion jockey S’Manga Khumalo, Three Stars went on to win first time out by three parts of a length for champion trainer Sean Tarry.
The race was a good one for Gold Medallion winner Seventh Rock, with Three Stars defeating another first time daughter of the sire, Rock Sensation, into second place in the maiden juvenile plate.
The Klawervlei Stud bred Three Stars was a R60 000 purchase from the 2017 Klawervlei Farm Sale.
The filly also continues the good run of form enjoyed by her proven G1 sire Seventh Rock. That son of Rock Of Gibraltar is also responsible for this season’s high class filly Rockin Russian (runner up in last season’s G1 Thekwini Stakes to champion Lady In Black) and the smart Colour Of Light. The latter has won two of her only three starts.
Another smart performer by Seventh Rock is 3yo Edward The Seventh reeled off three wins on the bounce before finishing second in the Guineas Trial this season.
Seventh Rock has two lots on offer at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale –a colt out of a winning daughter of champion US sire Giant’s Causeway (Lot 472), and a colt out of G3 Sycamore Sprint runner up Mary Stuart (Lot 481).
