Moutonshoek’s G1 winning sire The United States has been coming up with a slew of winners in recent weeks, and the blue-blooded son of Galileo struck again when his two-year-old son Kingdundee made an impressive debut at Fairview on Friday.
Slow into stride, the Gavin Smith-trained Kingdundee, under Craig Zackey, came with a sustained run to hit the front 200m from home and powered away to win Friday’s Racehorse Owners Association Juvenile Plate (1000m) by a length and a quarter.
Bred and owned by Clive Murphy, Kingdundee is out of the Duke Of Marmalade mare Miss Marmalade.
His sire The United States looks to have some promising two-year-olds to his name this season, with this tally also including the impressive debut winner Banff.
The son of Galileo is also responsible for recent winners Sun Blushed, Kashkaval, and Texas Red.
The United States has 14 lots on offer at the 2024 National Yearling Sale including a filly (Lot 64) out of Listed Oaks Trial winner Bize and a full-brother (Lot 242) to multiple stakes winner Khaya’s Hope.
