Cheveley Stud’s homebred champion Legislate is having a fine season in 2025-2026, and his good run continued at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Legislate’s progressive son Regulation picked up his biggest win to date when he won Saturday’s G3 Ownpay Peninsula Handicap to stamp himself a potential G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met contender.
Under a well judged ride from JP Van Der Merwe, the Justin Snaith trained four-year-old settled well off the front running The Futurist early on.
Regulation powered home down the centre of the track and stayed on gamely to hold off runner up Major Master by a neck.
Bred by Alec Foster, the Greg Bortz and Gina Goldsmith owned Regulation has won five of 13 starts, with the progressive gelding victorious in his last two starts.
A three-parts brother to the G1 winning Belgarion, Regulation is out of the Acatenango mare Riva.
His four time G1 winning sire Legislate has already enjoyed plenty of feature race success this season.
Legislate’s other stakes winners this season include G2 Race Coast Cape Punters Cup winner Good For You as well as G3 Cape Mile hero Legal Counsel, while Legislate’s classy daughter Wish List ran third in the G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas.
Another Legislate filly, Lowveld Lily, was runner up in the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship earlier in the season.
