Talented six-year-old gelding Sir Plush, whose third dam Grand Fluxe also ranks as the third dam of Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young stallion Erupt, made headlines at Gosford on Thursday.
Sir Plush, who was ridden to victory by South African born Glyn Schofield, picked up the eighth win of his career when he won the Listed Gosford Gold Cup at by half a length.

The Pins gelding has now banked nearly $500 000 in stakes.
Schofield said after the win, “I had the most beautiful run. He was a little bit unfortunate he didn’t win the other day, but he showed a lot of fight and gave me the indication that stepping up in trip wouldn’t be a bad idea so well done to Bjorn and Jack (Bruce) for putting him in this race,”

Sir Plush is out of deceased Theatrical mare Luxurious Lady –whose second dam is the important mare and multiple stakes winner Grand Luxe.

Not only is the latter dam of proven G1 sire Lode and third dam of G1 Grand Prix de Paris/G1 Canadian International winning sire Erupt, she is fourth dam of 2018 G1 Man O’War Stakes winner Hi Happy and ancestress of top stallions Flying Spur and Encosta De Lago –both of whom were champion sires in Australia and both of whom have since become top class broodmare sires.

Grand Luxe is also fourth dam of Australian G1 winner and millionaire I Am A Star, who holds an entry in the inaugural All-Star Mile.

Erupt, who stood his first season in South Africa in 2018 where he covered a top-class book of mares, earned more than $1.3 million in stakes during his career and he is one of nearly 40 G1 winners sired by Darley’s outstanding stallion Dubawi.
