Mauritzfontein’s successful sire Ideal World enjoyed a notable double at Scottsville on Wednesday when daughters Ella’s World and Expresso Martini won their respective races.

Another Ideal World daughter, Josephine Baker, ran third in Wednesday’s sixth race.

Promising 3yo filly Ella’s World made it two wins from three races when she stormed home to score a 2.2 length win in a fillies and mares handicap over 1600 metres.
Trained by Dennis Bosch, and ridden to victory by Warren Kennedy, the sophomore has now won or been second at each of her three starts.

Ella’s World, who is out of the Elliodor mare Speedy Eli, was a R60 000 buy from the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale.

Her paternal half-sister Expresso Martini justified tote favouritism when she won Wednesday’s fifth race, a fillies and mares handicap over 1950 metres, for trainer Paul Gadsby and apprentice Khanya Sakayi by a neck from the Australian bred Janice’s Secret.

In the process, the game mare made it three wins on the bounce, with Expresso Martini having now reeled off a hatrick of wins.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein, the five-year-old has now won or placed in 15 races and Expresso Martini’s Wednesday’s win pushed her earnings to over R400 000.

Her regally bred sire Ideal World,  whose Breeders’ Cup winning dam is a full-sister to champion sire Dansili, has been enjoying another good season with his current runners including the leading 2019 G1 Sun Met hope Rainbow Bridge.

The son of Kingmambo has 3 lots on next week’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale –a colt (Lot 71) bred on the same cross as Rainbow Bridge, a filly (Lot 138) bred on the same cross as Ideal World’s Met winning champion Smart Call, and a colt (Lot 173) whose 3 time winning dam is a daughter of the world’s premier stallion Galileo.
