Master Of My Fate colt wins on debut

8th January 2022

Varsfontein Stud’s very much inform stallion Master Of My Fate came up with yet another smart looking winner when his son Street Outlaw made a winning debut at Kenilworth on L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate day.

A two-year-old colt trained by Vaughan Marshall, Street Outlaw was well backed prior to the start of Saturday’s second race, the Trippi Stakes Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m), and eventually started a 4-1 shot.

Under Bernard Fayd’Herbe, Street Outlaw powered home to win a shade cosily by three-parts of a length, at the expense of more experienced tote favourite, We’re Jamming.

Bred by Golden Touch Thoroughbred Services, in partnership with Mr Kidd, Street Outlaw was a R210 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

Out of the Var mare Miss Varlocity, Street Outlaw is bred on the same Master Of My Fate/Var cross as the G1 winning champion Tempting Fate.

Street Outlaw was one of two winners for Master Of My Fate at Kenilworth on Saturday -with the stallion’s son Han Solo victorious in Saturday’s ninth race for Glen Kotzen, Richard Fourie, and breeder Judy Wintle.

Master Of My Fate had enjoyed success at Kenilworth the day before when his top-class, G1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes winning daughter, Zarina, romped home to a facile win in the Futura Pinnacle Stakes (1500m).
Bred by Oldlands Stud, four-year-old Zarina (a likely contender for the G1 Majorca Stakes at the end of the month) has now won six of 12 starts, with her earlier wins also including the 2021 G3 Vasco Prix du Cap

Second on the South African General Sires List last season, Master Of My Fate has five lots on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale and a further eight lots on the Cape Yearling Sale.
