Varsfontein Stud’s exciting stallion Master Of My Fate looks to have a really smart sort on his hands in the form of Basadi Faith.
The latter made it two wins from as many outings when she won a juvenile plate for fillies over 1000m at the Vaal racecourse on Tuesday.

Trained by Paul Matchett, the Favour Stud bred juvenile (who is from her sire’s second crop) had previously romped home to win as she liked on debut over 800m. Basadi Faith followed that debut win up when she romped home to win by two and a quarter lengths from the well bred first-timer Mill Queen and she looks destined for feature race company before too long.

Basadi Faith’s sire Master Of My Fate, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire by winners in 2017-2018, has made a cracking start with his first crop having produced the high-class Twist Of Fate, whose wins include the G3 BMW Politician Stakes, G3 Cape Classic and Listed Somerset 1200.

Also bred by Favour Stud, Twist Of Fate (who has banked over R830 000 in stakes thus far) is set to run next in the CTS 1600 on Sun Met day.

His talented sire Master Of My Fate, whose six wins from just eight starts included the G2 Premier Trophy and G2 Peninsula Handicap, has five lots on next week’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale including a half-sister to Cape champion Temple Grafin (Lot 82) and a colt out of G3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap winner Miss October (Lot 116).
