More two-year-old success for Querari

2nd December 2024

Maine Chance Farms’ top-class sire Querari has made a flying start with his two-year-olds this season. Two of the first three races for 2yos in South Africa in 2024-2025 were won by Querari runners.
Querari’s latest juvenile success came when his daughter Siesta Sunset made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
Trained by Michael Miller, Siesta Sunset unleashed a fine turn of foot to win Sunday’s Bet With Tabgold -The Intelligent Bet! Maiden Juvenile Plate (800m) by just under a length and a quarter.
Bred by the Waterford Stud, Siesta Sunset was ridden to victory by Mathew Thackeray.
The filly is out of the Peintre Celebre mare Tramontana.
Siesta Sunset is the second two-year-old winner for Querari this season. The son of Oasis Dream is also the sire of Black Cheetah, an impressive winner of the Futurity Plate on debut.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, Querari went close to having a two-year-old double this weekend, with his daughter Caroline Island finishing a close second, on debut, in Saturday’s South African Airways Maiden Juvenile Plate (800m) at Turffontein.
