Highlands Stud, part of Ridgemont Group, stand the Irish champion Pathfork, who was represented by his eighth juvenile winner of the season when his daughter Tweed Valley won in open company yesterday.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Tweed Valley dug down deep to record a short neck win over 1000m, downing older rivals in the process.
The filly, who is out of the Right Approach mare Brora, was a R120 000 purchase from the 2016 Val De Vie Yearling Sale.
Pathfork has enjoyed a great season with his 2yos around South Africa including brilliant feature race winner (on debut) Precious Pansy –a runner in Friday’s Listed Champion Juvenile Cup, G1 contender Twelve Oaks and the stakes placed filly Holly’s Vision.
Sire of the brilliant Red Chesnut Road in his first crop, Pathfork was a top class racehorse, who, like outstanding sires Dubawi, El Prado, Roberto and Sir Ivor, won the G1 National Stakes.
