Buying Trouble, whose dam is a half-sister to promising Cape sire Pathfork, produced a fine turn of speed to land the Listed EBF Stallions Cecil Frail Stakes over 1200m at Haydock on Saturday by half a length going away.
The four-year-old filly, trained by David Evans, has now won three, with Saturday’s victory a first stakes success for Buying Trouble.
A daughter of Hat Trick, Buying Trouble holds an entry in the G3 TRM Ballyogan Stakes next month.
Her dam Lotus Sutra is a half-sister to at least four winners including Irish Champion 2YO, and G1 National Stakes winner, Pathfork and Listed Birdstone Stakes winner Tacticus
She is out of Sadler’s Wells’ stakes winning daughter Visions Of Clarity, whose siblings include G1 Irish 2000 Guineas/G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Spinning World.
This is also the family of leading sires El Gran Senor, Northern Guest and Redoute’s Choice.
It has been a productive spell for Pathfork’s male line as well, with his sire Distorted Humor (broodmare sire of the world’s top galloper Arrogate) responsible for the sire of 2017 Preakness Stakes winner Cloud Computing.
Pathfork, whose first crop included brilliant G3 winner Red Chesnut Road, has enjoyed another good year with his 2yos this season. His juvenile winners include feature race winner Precious Pansy, G1 contender Twelve Oaks and Listed Devon Air Stakes entrant Holly’s Vision.
