Querari service tops Cape Breeders’ Club auction

26th May 2018

A service to Maine Chance Farms’ hugely popular sire Querari topped last week’s Cape Breeders Club’s Stallion Services Auction. The service was knocked down to Form Bloodstock’s Jehan Malherbe for R120 000.

The auction, which took place just prior to the 2018 Cape Mare Sale at the Mistico Equestrian Centre near Paarl, raised an impressive total of R867 000 (with a portion of that sum coming from silent bids for various sire services).

A break-down of the stallion services sold at public auction last week is as follows:
Elusive Fort –R18 000 (Marianne Thomson)
Flower Alley –R62 000 (David Shawe)
Gimmethegreenlight –R80 000 (Connemara Stud)
Master Of My Fate –R40 000 (Peter Gibson)
Oratorio-R32 000 (Connemara Stud)
Querari-R120 000 (Form Bloodstock)
Soft Falling Rain –R50 000 (Mauritzfontein)
Twice Over –R32 000 (Oscar Foulkes)
Vercingetorix –R35 000 (Marianne Thomson)
What A Winter –R70 000 (Peter Gibson)

A big thank you goes out to all the farms and stallion managers who donated services to this year’s auction.
