Ridgemont’s star stallion Rafeef looks to have yet another exciting prospect in the form of Heather’s Boy. The latter, a likely G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas contender, made it three wins from three starts with a smart win on Tuesday.
Trained, like his sire, by Mike De Kock, three-year-old Heather’s Boy was sent off a 5-10 shot for Tuesday’s Play Soccer 6, 10 and 13 Graduation Plate (1600m) at Turffontein.
Under a confident ride from Craig Zackey, the colt was always travelling strongly in Thursday’s question, and, when asked the question, he quickened up strongly to go away and win by a length and a half.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Heather’s Boy had won impressively on debut, before following that up with a win over 1600 metres.
The unbeaten colt, out of the Tiger Ridge mare Folk Dance, was a R900 000 buy from the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale.
His G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef has enjoyed a wonderful few days. Not only did Rafeef filly Chasing Happiness win Saturday’s G3 Betway Carry On Alice Stakes, but Rafeef’s two-year-old daughter Glastonbury made a winning debut at Turffontein on Saturday.
Rafeef is set to be represented by his daughters Mon Petit Cherie and Mai Sensation in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas.
