Maine Chance Farms’ successful sire Querari has been enjoying another fine season in 2020-2021, and the son of Oasis Dream had another notable day on Saturday when Querari supplied three individual winners.
Querari fillies won the first two races at Kenilworth on Saturday, before Querari’s gelded son Back To Black saluted at Turffontein later in the day.
Another Querari son, All Lit Up ran second, beaten three parts of a length, in Kenilworth’s fifth race on Saturday.
Sire of this season’s top flight sprinter Rio Querari, Querari also went close to supplying another feature race winner when his daughter La Quinta ran on strongly to take third, beaten just over three-parts of a length, in Saturday’s Listed World Sports Betting Sweet Chestnut Stakes.
His two-year-old daughter Quick Breeze caught the eye when breaking her maiden in open company, when she won the first race at Kenilworth on Saturday. Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, the Brett Crawford trained Quick Breeze pulled clear in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1200m contest to score by two and a quarter lengths, under new stable jockey Callan Murray.
Runner up at her previous start, Quick Breeze is Querari’s seventh South African two-year-old winner of the current season.
Querari’s four-year-old daughter Winsdor Beat provided her sire with a quick double, when powering home to win Kenilworth’s second race by a length and a half. Trained by Adam Marcus, the Basil Marcus bred filly was making it back to back wins, with Windsor Beat having won her last start over 1250m at Durbanville.
Her sire’s third and final success on Saturday came when his Dorrie Sham trained son Back To Black scored by nearly three-parts of a length over 1500m at Turffontein. Bred by Ten Einde Farm, the gelded son of Querari kept going gamely to withstand the challenge of the fast finishing Argentinian bred Mohican convincingly.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for 2018-2019, Querari is currently sixth on the General Sires List for 2020-2021, with his progeny having already earned in excess of R5.936 million for the current season.
