Silvano filly impressive on debut

9th Jan 2018

Maine Chance Farms’ reigning champion sire Silvano had an eye catching debut winner at Durbanville on Tuesday when his daughter Indian Song won for in-form trainer Candice Bass-Robinson over 1250m.

The three-year-old impressed with a well off the pace, last to first move which saw Indian Song romp home to a clear cut two and a quarter length win first-time out.

Bred by Dr Ian Heyns (also breeder of Silvano sired Victress Stakes winner Star Express), Indian Song is out of the Jet Master mare Hunters Prayer.

She is thus bred on the same Silvano/Jet Master cross as exported Betting World Derby winner Silvano’s Jet.

Tuesday’s winner was a R475 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

A dual champion sire in South Africa, Silvano has been represented by five stakes winners in 2017-2018 including graded winners Girl On The Run, Strathdon, Star Express, and Bella Sonata.

The sire of four individual Vodacom Durban July winners, Silvano has 20 yearlings on the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale including a full-brother to exported French winner and G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Champion heroine Happy Valentine (Lot24).
