Maine Chance Farms’ multiple champion sire Silvano has been enjoying, once again, a great run of success and he was at it again at Greyville on Wednesday.
This time it was the Silvano sired Born To Perform who kept his sire in lights, with the Dennis Bosch trained four-year-old making it two wins from as many official outings with a smooth victory at KZN”s mid-week meeting.

Born To Perform, well ridden by  jockey Warren Kennedy, ran on strongly to score a facile two and a half length win in a handicap over 1600m.

The grey, out of champion Dancer’s Daughter, had previously shed his maiden impressively when romping home to score a 4.7 length over 1600m in December and Born To Perform (who had previously only a single barrier trial to his name) looks a smart sort in the making.

Bred by Highlands, Born To Perform was originally an R800 000 buy from the 2016 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale, but was later sold for R55 000 at the 2018 Super Sale.

His triple G1 winning multiple champion sire Silvano is enjoying another fantastic season in 2018-2019, with his star performers including unbeaten G2 Dingaans/G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes winner Hawwaam, Lady’s Bracelet winner Platinum Class, G3 Yellowwood Handicap winner Sylvan On Fire, and G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas runner up Silvano’s Pride.

At the time of writing, Silvano is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire (once again) by stakes, with his progeny having already banked more than R6 000 000 in 2018-2019.

The champion son of Lomitas, and sire of current Leading First Crop Sire Vercingetorix, has eight lots on offer at the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
