It was all but a clean sweep for current and former Ascot Stud stallions at Fairview on Friday, with progeny of Bold Silvano and Sail From Seattle combining to win no fewer than six of the ten races run.

Sail From Seattle has enjoyed a magnificent season with his two-year-olds in 2016-2017 and the late son of Gone West was represented by his 18th individual 2yo winner when his son Coyote Creek broke his maiden in the first race, by five and a quarter lengths, over 1400m at Friday. The gelding, runner up in the Listed Dahlia Plate, is one of four black type performers to have emerged from Sail From Seattle’s current crop of two-year-olds, and has been entered in the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup.
Former Equus Champion and July winner Bold Silvano was in the winners enclosure when his 2yo daughter Lawdy Miss Clawdy landed Friday’s second race, and the second race of her career, when defeating Listed Epol Dahlia Plate winner Joking by half a length over 1200m. Owned, bred and trained by Dorrie Sham, Lawdy Miss Clawdy’s full sister, 3yo Kungfoofighting, would go on to emulate Lawdy Miss Clawdy by winning over 1200m at Fairview on the same day!
Seattle Flame, also entered in the 2017 Champion Juvenile Cup, provided Sail From Seattle with a juvenile double when landing the second win of his career when romping to a five length victory in Friday’s third race, a juvenile plate over 1200m. Bred by the Ascot Stud, Seattle Flame has been the soul of consistency, having won or finished third (in the Listed East Cape Nursery and Listed Dahlia Plate) in his four starts to date.

Ascot Stud also bred Sail From Seattle’s third Friday winner, Copper Trail, who became his sire’s 19th 2yo winner of the season when scoring over 1600m, while the sixth and final win on the day for an Ascot sire came when Sail From Seattle’s smart son Classify (bred by the Ascot Stud) made it win number four from just seven starts when smashing recent feature race winner Gimme The Stars by three and a quarter lengths over 1400m.
(Another former Ascot sire, Lecture, is broodmare sire of the Ascot Stud bred Silvan Star –winner of Saturday’s Listed Highlands Stud Ladies Mile).
Bold Silvano has six yearlings on offer at this week’s KZN Yearling Sale, while Sail From Seattle has three lots on that Sibaya Casino based sale.
