Third first crop winner for Twice Over

23rd Jun 2017

Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young sire Twice Over was represented by a third first crop winner when his 2yo son Twice A Dancer saluted in impressive fashion in open company at the Vaal on Thursday.

The colt, who hails from the yard of champion trainer Sean Tarry, was keen early on in the 1600m contest and had to overcome a rough passage in running, but ran on smartly to post a convincing 1.3 length win for owners Bernard Kantor, Chris Van Niekerk and Mayfair Speculators.

Bred by Patricia Devine, Twice A Dancer was a R500 000 purchase from last year’s CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale.

Just one day earlier, another son of Twice Over, Rock My Soul, went close to providing his sire with yet another winner when just touched off into second place over 1400m. It is surely only a matter of time before the Ascot Stud bred Rock My Soul gets off the mark and gives Twice Over yet another first crop win.

Four time G1 winner and European champion Twice Over has made an explosive start to his stud career with his early runners including undefeated G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Sand And Sea.

The champion has also proved popular in the sales ring in 2017, with his yearlings fetching up to R2.1 million.

Twice Over has a single lot on offer at next week’s KZN Yearling Sale –a colt, out of a winning Tapit mare, from the same family as Epsom Derby winner and sire great Roberto (Lot 241).
