Three in a row for Vercingetorix filly

21st Feb 2021

Maine Chance Farms’ boom stallion Vercingetorix looks to have come up with yet another smart first crop performer in the form of Seehaam.

The latter made it three wins in a row when scoring a facile win over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday afternoon.

One of four winners on the card for trainer Sean Tarry, four-year-old Seehaam powered clear, under Lyle Hewitson, to record a two and a quarter length win for owner-breeder, Al Adaayit South Africa.

A three-parts sister to G1 SA Derby winner Al Sahem, Seehaam (who has won three of just four starts) had broken her maiden, at the second time of asking, by a length and a quarter before going to on to score over 1400m at her following start.

The filly hails from the first crop of Equus Champion, and G1 Jebel Hatta hero, Vercingetorix -with this crop having also produced the graded stakes winners African Warrior and Ikigai, East Cape champion Hooves Of Troy, speedy Umgeni Handicap winner Celtic Voyager, and G1 Daily News 2000 runner up Padre Pio.

South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire and Sire of 3YOs in 2019-2020, Vercingetorix has three lots on this week’s Cape Yearling Sale and seven lots on the 2021 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
