Prominent Cape breeders Varsfontein Stud were honoured at the recent Highveld Awards, hosted by the Racing Association at Emperors Palace.

The farm was named Breeder Of The Season, after a season which Varsfontein breds wrack up a string of victories in Gauteng.

During the just past Gauteng season, Varsfontein were represented by numerous winners including dual feature race winner Polyphonic, with that Judpot daughter winning both the G2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes and Listed Jacaranda Handicap.

Other notable performers to represent Varsfontein during that season included G3 Daily Sun Magnolia Handicap winner Green Pepper, Listed SA Derby Trial winner and G1 SA Derby runner up Pagoda, and G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic third Bi Pot.
