Increasingly successful Oasis Dream sire Querari enjoyed a memorable mid-week double when represented by a pair of winners at Greyville on Wednesday.
Querari, whose talented daughter Angel’s Trumpet picked up her fourth career win when victorious at Durbanville on Tuesday, enjoyed success in Wednesday’s third race when his 3yo son Farland broke his maiden over 1400m.
Trained by Doug Campbell, the Lammerskraal Stud bred Farland is out of the Western Winter mare Glistening and he was a R250 000 purchase from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.
Farland’s paternal half-brother Q The Music, surely one of the most consistent horses in training, gained an overdue win when he won a MR 80 handicap (race7) at Greyville on Wednesday. Trained by Andre Nel, the La Plaisance bred gelding, who has won or placed in 12 of 15 outings, has won or been in the money in his last nine starts.
A German champion and Italian G1 winner, Querari is a half-brother to G3 Bavarian Classic winning sire Quasillo and recent G2 Woodford Reserve Ballston Spa Stakes winner Quidura. The latter, who has earned over $740 000 in prize money, has now won graded stakes races at three, four and five and she has been unplaced just twice in 11 starts.
Sire of at least one stakes winner to date in each of his first four crops to date, Querari enjoyed notable success in South Africa during 2017-2018 with his representatives including such graded stakes winners as Monks Hood, Wonderwall and Pinnacle Peak.
He will be represented in Saturday’s Listed Sophomore Sprint by impressive recent debut winner Pleasedtomeetyou.
