Maine Chance Farms’ prominent resident sire Querari has had another good year in 2022, and the son of Oasis Dream’s good form continued on Wednesday when Querari supplied a pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Querari’s Garth Puller trained son Queue Wing made it three wins from his last four starts when he romped to a facile victory in the fifth race run at Greyville on Wednesday.
The five-year-old was in a different league to his rivals, with Queue Wing pulling clear, under Serino Moodley, to score by more than five and a half lengths.
Bred by the Birch Bros, Queue Wing has now won six of 17 starts, with the gelding having either won or placed in 11 of his 17 outings.
Out of the Silvano mare Africa’s Delight, Queue Wing is bred on the same Querari/Silvano cross as such stakes winners as Cosmic Light, Homely Girl, Wonderwall, Dagmar and Luna Wish.
Querari’s second success came when his gelded son Back To Black came with a late flourish to land the sixth race, the Open A tabgold Account-031 314 1874 Pinnacle Stakes (1200m), on the card.
Now in the care of Paul Lafferty, the five-year-old ran on strongly down the centre of the track to score by just over half a length, with his beaten rivals including former G1 Mercury Sprint winner Pearl Of Asia.
Bred by Ten Einde Farm, Back To Black (making his first start for his new trainer on Wednesday) has now won five times in total.
His sire Querari, twice Leading Sire of 2YOs in South Africa, is having another fine season and is currently fifth on the General Sires List.
