Varsfontein Stud’s exciting sire Master Of My Fate had a weekend to remember this past week, when the multiple graded stakes winning of Jet Master was responsible for four winners –in three different provinces!

Master Of My Fate, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire by winners in 2017-2018, had a quick-fire double on Saturday, with his runners Toastmaster and Fateful winning at Turffontein and Durbanville respectively.

Bred by Hallmark Thoroughbreds, 3yo Toastmaster provided trainer Sean Tarry with one of three winners on Saturday when the gelding broke his maiden by 0.6 of a length over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday.
Runner up at his previous start, the well related Toastmaster, who was dropping back in trip for Saturday’s race, has now won or placed in three of five starts.

His sire Master Of My Fate also got among the winners at Durbanville on Saturday, when his 3yo gelded son Fateful won the eighth and final race on the card. From the yard of in-form conditioner Mike Robinson, Fateful ran on strongly to shed his maiden by a convincing 1.25 lengths over 1400m as the tote favourite. Bred by the Beaumont Stud, Fateful has now won or placed in four of six outings.

The in-form sire, himself a winner of six of only eight races, also dominated the first two races at Greyville on Sunday, with Master Of My Fate’s progeny Purple Persuasion and Triple Fate Line winning the day’s first and second races respectively.
Two-year-old Purple Persuasion, a second juvenile winner this season for Master Of My Fate, caught the eye when landing a juvenile plate for fillies on Sunday by 1.2 lengths. Trained by Alyson Wright, the Ndoro Stud bred filly, who had excuses when very wide on debut, looks a smart sort and she should build on this win –her first from two starts.

Her paternal half-brother Triple Fate Line gave Master Of My Fate a Greyville double when the Robbie/Shannon Hill trained colt scored his second win from only four starts over 1200m. Unplaced just once thus far, the Varsfontein Stud bred colt was a R65 000 buy from the 2017 National Two Year Old Sale and he has already earned double his purchase price.
